The Tall Flee certainly didn’t collect its due when it was released — it wasn’t even nominated for Best Describe, Director or any of the Acting awards. In fact, it was only nominated for Film Editing! It seems, however, that the film doesn’t even catch its pleasurable due today as it was not on the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest Film list despite its tremendous following.
The Immense Sprint is certainly one of the most memorable films I’ve ever seen. The cast includes the unhurried large Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough (Director of Gandhi), Charles Bronson, James Coburn, James Donald (Bridge on the River Kwai), Donald Pleasance and David McCallum (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) . McQueen’s performance is riveting and makes the viewer miss him all the more. Garner, who actually was a “Scrounger” during the Korean War, is terrific. It’s also particularly nice to recognize a performance as a suited guy from Pleasance and as a human being by Bronson (sorry, but Bronson truly wasted his talent in the Death Wish movies) . And in an era when studios tried to substitute backlot sets for on set filming, the POW camp, which was built on dwelling in Germany, looks completely authentic and makes the audience sympathize with the prisoners’ scrape even more. The DVD heightens the experience by presenting the film letterboxed in obvious, vibrant colors. In addition, the DVD edition includes a documentary on both the genuine account and the making of the film. This film is a classic and the DVD edition does it tall justice and makes you realize what a mistake the AFI made by excluding it from its list.

I saw The Spacious Hurry in the descend of 1963 when I was 8 years mature. This movie has transcended generations — my 18 year dilapidated son recently viewed it and he was totally engrossed in this fabulous fair account of men seeking freedom under the most desperate circumstances. He agreed with me that “they don’t compose em like they worn to” and that most of the films today can’t gain a candle to The Gigantic Elope.
The DVD is top-notch — the color and characterize quality is first rate — looks objective like when I saw it in the topple of 1963 at the veteran Capitol Theatre in Rome, NY. The featurette on the making of The Astronomical Rush is a nice feature that I never saw before.

It seems like the only blueprint anyone hears about this movie, its either from fanatic word of mouth or from seeing it sitting in Blockbusters. Thats a shame, because this first outing by director Troy Duffy is an extremely wintry film that deserves all the attention it can score.
Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus play two edifying ole Irish Catholic boys in Boston, who one day glean sick of the corruption in the city and initiate a bloody crusade to wipe it out. Willem DaFoe plays the FBI agent hot on their fling, who is torn between bringing the mysterious vigilantes to justice, or joining their crusade.
The film is, simply effect, chilly. Its one of the only movies that actually effect going to church peep chilly. Don’t be fooled by the description, however; this is not an action movie. Do not demand blazing gun battles with crazy angles and MTV like editing. This is a film about morality, doing what one thinks is legal, and having codes of honour. It’s about all those things, and how terminate they may sometimes catch to walking the edge between noble and unfriendly.

The two actors who play the Irish vigilantes are tremendous in their roles, playing the boys not as superheroes, but as regular joes with a great chip on their shoulder. A nice twist in the film is DaFoe’s portrayel of the FBI agent, who also happens to be jubilant. He plays him as a gigantic character without being tempted to dip into stereotypes. Tremendous job by the versatile actor.
This is definately a movie not to be missed. If you are fortunate to witness this in your video store, recall it out and relish.

I could care less whether Duffy imitated “Pulp Fiction” or whether he arrived at this belief on his occupy. Hollywood routinely begs, borrows, and steals in an worry to form a buck. The modern trend of remaking older films is only one aspect of this philosophy, so complaining about some filmmaker copying a specific style is a moot point. “The Boondock Saints” is an enormously spirited intention to utilize a couple of hours and, despite a few flaws, may effect a cult state rivaling anything made by Quentin Tarentino. The inept local cops stand around throwing out all sorts of strange, implausible theories about these corpses in the alleyway, but Smecker moves in and figures it all out in an enormously hilarious and ingenious map. By slapping on some headphones pumping out classical music and prancing around the scene checking things out, Smecker tells the cops what happened, when it happened, and who probably did it. Certain enough, the MacManus boys sheepishly reach at the local cop shop, bloodied and bandaged from their tussle with the Russkies, and confess to the crime.

Fortunately for Connor and Murphy, Agent Smecker takes a valid shine to these gregarious youngsters and releases them from jail. After all, the whole incident was merely a case of self-defense gone horribly bloody. But something curious happens to the MacManus brothers after this incident; they suddenly assume they receive a calling from God to rid the streets of criminals. Checking in at the local armory of the Irish Republican Army (this is Boston, after all) and arming themselves to the teeth, Connor and Murphy expend information gleaned from their encounter with the low-level mafia goons to stage a mission against the bosses of the Russian Mob. Other jobs soon follow, all apparently sanctioned and sanctified by the Almighty. The boys are so successful they soon blueprint in the assistance of David Rocco, who, with his sizable knowledge of Boston’s underworld, provides a list of criminals who deserve to die. As the body count rises, Smecker comes closer to learning the identities of these homegrown vigilantes. The fact that the FBI agent undergoes a crisis of conscience over the crimes–he fleet realizes these murders are the work of citizens fed up with crime–leads him to secretly encourage the men responsible for the killings. Throw in a bunch of Mafia thugs, adult film star Ron Jeremy as a doomed hoodlum, a vicious, mystical killer named “Il Duce” (played by Billy Connolly, unexcited atoning for “Head of the Class”), stylish gunplay, and an exploding cat and you have all the makings of this obedient movie.
“The Boondock Saints” is a film about vigilantism and whether that activity is ever justifiable, although that theme seems to fade for most of the movie. The conclusion, too, ends up being honest a diminutive too implausible, but getting there is a boatload of fun. The best things about Duffy’s film are the whipsaw like a flash dialogue, the hilarious running gags, and Willem Dafoe as Agent Paul Smecker. Dafoe especially deserves accolades for his portrayal of a conflicted FBI agent whose sympathies eventually turn to the MacManus brothers. His method of solving crimes, especially the shootout between Il Duce and the two vigilantes, is not only brilliantly executed but a wonder to behold. Moreover, Smecker’s interactions with the local Irish cops provide endless opportunities for astronomical dialogue and hilarious jokes.
Regrettably, a bit of overacting at sure points of the film rapidly annoys, as does the failure to provide anything more than lip service to vigilantism and how it pertains to our ultra violent world, but “The Boondock Saints” is so powerful fun despite these flaws that you will hardly spy them. The DVD includes many extras, such as essential deleted scenes, a commentary by Troy Duffy, and a widescreen presentation. There’s even talk of an impending sequel, although the absence of the Willem Dafoe character, if the reports are accurate, could cause famous problems. There is not any other diagram to say it: if you have not seen “The Boondock Saints,” hurry, do not scramble, to the local video store and engage or rent a copy today.

When I first saw the title of this movie, I was intrigued. I wasn’t looking for a movie about France, but any movie title with the word Provence has my attention. This movie starts out very slowly, so you have to be patient. In fact, I wasn’t positive I had keep in the just tape to originate with, but soon I figured out what the movie was about. You will laugh out loud in some scenes as Peter is pulled along with a pig hunting for truffles. There is a “truffle mystery theme” running through the movie. The humor in this made-for-TV romantic comedy is dry English humor, which I quite devour. This is really more of a comedy, than a romance. Perhaps the romance is that a couple is trying to accept their dream and they stick together through the worthy and the awful.
What I loved was that Peter was a writer and he is always trying to effect his recent. His wife helps him on a writing assignment about Provence and that is when things turn more into a mystery.
There is a qualified dose of the “French language” in this movie, but you always know what the actors are saying because Peter and his wife let you know. The cultural misunderstandings are very silly, but trying in a plot. Annie and Peter do attempt to fit in and learn as worthy French as they can.
When they experience the respectable and the poor, it is then they devour France all the more. The “mistral” winds (strong winds) salvage them off guard as they never imagined they would have to deal with a freezing frosty environment. When the pipes freeze and they are expecting company, they ruin up starting a kitchen renovation, which takes forever to complete.
To top it all off, people preserve dropping in unexpectedly and quiz to be entertained. While they like the company of “loyal friends,” they do attempt to collect rid of a summer guest only to have him earn a choice they are not overjoyed with. The situations these two characters regain themselves into are quite amusing. They also meet up with quite a few consuming characters, those being the local residents.
I do wish they had shown more of the Provençal countryside and lifestyle, but it was attractive. I have always belief it would be fun to live in France and be a writer. This movie was moving in that regard. I would also cherish to live in that house with a pool! What a life! If you be pleased English humor, which is very dry…you will savor it! If you fancy Provence, France, this is a rare treat.

A Year in Provence is a thoroughly delightful, witty, funny series starring the tedious John Thaw (Inspector Morse, Kavanagh QC), who sadly died of throat cancer in 2002. The series is based on the real-life experiences of Peter Mayle and his wife who left their jobs and lives in England to fade to the south of France. Mayle’s diagram was to choose in this idyllic corner of paradise to write a novel; what resulted was a fable which served as the basis for this exquisite series.

Beginning in winter, the series covers the Mayles’ first year in Provence and dramatises the many trials and tribulations they faced in adjusting to the local customs and peculiarities (like goat racing and truffle hunting) and to their recent environment. There were the gale-force winter winds (”les Mistrals”) to contend with; added to that, the ravishing, rustic extinct farmhouse they bought came complete (alas) with inadequate insulation, frozen water pipes, and no central heating! While the laid-back, idle lifestyle may have been an attraction when the Mayles were in England, they soon learn it has its drawbacks when it comes to getting anything done–like the much-needed repairs and renovations by the builders! Then there’s the joy of bright visitors from succor home, the pleasure of which is somewhat dimmed when they secure they’ve inadvertently overlapped the visits of three couples.
The series has been presented in a boxed region of four 90-minute episodes–one for each season from Winter through Autumn. Each episode is broken down into three 30-minute parts–one for each month of the season. Though we chose to stare the series in its 90-minute blocks, one could easily notice it in half-hour blocks if one preferred.
In conclusion, I highly, highly recommend this exquisite series to anyone who enjoys British entertainment in general. I’m extremely jubilant I took a chance on this status as it’s been a series our whole family has really enjoyed watching (and one we watch forward to watching again in the not-too-distant future) . I might unbiased mention (in case it’s not certain!) that one ought not to ask any heavy drama or an action-packed, intricately plotted series here. This is simply not that kind of reveal. In fact, I’d have to say that really belongs in a genre all its have. It is a nice super, relaxing exhibit with no sex, violence or terrible language–just a plethora of interesting and often hilarious incidents location against the pastoral backdrop of the ravishing Provencal landscape. Fair perfect (in my conception) for unwinding at the ruin of the day!

Cinema Paradiso is one of my accepted movies. I finally found the unusual version available for rent through Netflix when I couldn’t fetch it in any Blockbuster.
For those who have already seen Cinema Paradiso it needs no introduction. For everybody else, it won the Academy Award for Foreign Language Film in 1989 and features one of the most nostalgic treatments of the role of movies in people’s lives. Ennio Morricone’s theme song has also been recycled in countless commercials and movie montages and trailers.

What’s fine about the Director’s Gash or “Novel Version” DVD is that one can belief the director’s prick with added scenes on one DVD side and the originally released version on the other.
For those of us who wanted some kind of closure to Toto and Elena’s relationship, the Director’s Cleave has it– there’s about an hour more of footage of their relationship. The novel version also more footage of Toto’s military service and his adulthood. The added scenes somewhat peaceful the focus of the movie, so I could seek why they were originally chop out. But, at the same time, the added scenes maintain in the blanks that originally made a lot of us judge, “Hey– What about…? ” And although Toto’s childhood scenes are, as far as I can declare, unchanged from the unusual version, we also net out more about Alfredo.
After finishing the Current Version I appreciated the new version better. I highly recommend the current version not because it makes Cinema Paradiso more of a masterpiece, but because it adds more characterization to what, arguably, is a masterpiece. The added scenes can be a bit superfluous, but they demonstrate how essential editorial decisions are to shaping the structure and momentum of a movie.
I became aware of the existence of over 50 minutes of additional scenes in this film in the past two years. The new, pruned version received the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1990. I have owned the video for a decade. Then, last summer, the “modern version” was shown in shrimp release, and a DVD was promised. With the addition of the deleted scenes, an entirely different film is created. Owning this DVD is owning a ticket novel version of the film’s events.
Initially, the film was considered too long, and massive scenes were nick, removing any and all references to whatever happened to Salvatore’s broad adore, Lina. The current version of the film focused mainly on the young boy, fatherless in post-WWII Sicily, bonding with the childless cinema projectionist, Alfredo. The young Toto grows into the teen-aged Salvatore, who falls in care for with the sparkling and unattainable Lina. They are parted. That is the last we gawk. Salvatore returns to his village many years later to abet the funeral of Alfredo, and the film is told nearly entirely in flashback.

In this version, Salvatore is reunited with his lost treasure when he returns for the funeral. To assume that this entire place was removed from the film initially is almost unthinkable. There are other parts of the film that could have been edited to support these additional scenes in. I don’t know what the producers, directors or the studio were thinking when they edited a enormous portion of the movie out.
Well, now the film is complete. Whereas the unique version focused mainly on the relationship of Toto and Alfredo, we now look a conclusion to Toto and Lina as well. And, we understand the ending of the film in an entirely, mighty less sentimental light. Salvatore has spent the bulk of his life mourning his lost savor, not returning to his village, and not lustrous of Alfredo’s hand in the matter. He is facing life-changing decisions, and must ultimately dip into a pool of acceptance and forgiveness. Without the addition of these scenes, the point is lost.
This was an fine film to open with, now it is nearly perfect. It is bittersweet and touching, and all the more realistic with the deleted scenes returned. If you absorb the novel version, you must hold this version. You will behold this film in a completely different light.

The sage is told to Catherine through the eyes of her mother who had a tall deal of attractive, romantic, adventurous, and gloomy stories to record. The first account revolves around several different occurences - the wreck of a stunning female aviator in Cutter Gap, the building of a unique road to El Pano, the dissaperance of many of the cove people’s belongings, and Christy’s encouragement of one of her pupils’ desire to go to colledge. but not due to the storyline. I absolutely loved the tv series “Christy” when it first debuted with Kellie Martin and Tyne Daly. I was very, very annoyed when this fantastic, witty, romantic, dramatic, and all around exceptional expose was canned.
I was dubious at first when I learned some “Christy” tv movies were coming out but I was willing to sit down and stare one to survey if it held the same magic for me as the series held. Unfortunately, the magic that had me bowled over week after week with the series was not prove in the movies.
Don’t accept me ghastly, the tv movies might be of the highest quality and caliber but, for me at least, Kellie Martin will always be Christy. Tyne Daly will always be Miss Alice and Randall Batinkoff will always be David. These actors are forever going to embody the characters of the improbable tv indicate which was “Christy” and no substitutes will do.

A unusual and highly informative 6-part documentary that examines the establishment and development of the Auschwitz-Birkenow concentration camp within the historical context of the Nazi’s changing strategies and goals during the Second World War. Using historical photographs, filmed re-enactments, fresh interviews with both survivors and perpetrators, and computer models based on recently discovered blueprints of the camp, the filmmakers painstakingly heed the evolution of Auschwitz from a detainee facility built to house Polish prisoners, to a forced labor camp, and finally, to an contemptible and horrifyingly efficient factory devoted to mass execute. Brilliantly and movingly narrated by actress Linda Hunt (Oscar-winner for “The Year of Living Dangerously”), the 4-1/2 hour series is intellectually stimulating, educationally fabulous, and emotionally overwhelming as it attempts the almost impossible task of explaining the incomprehensible. No film or documentary could ever fully conceal the enormity of the Shoah, everything that went on, every last aspect, but this one really hits the brand on the site of the Shoah it chose to focus on. This three-part documentary focuses on Oswiecim-Brzezinka (Auschwitz-Birkenau) in general and on the inner-workings of the camp, the blueprints for genocide, in particular. There are interviews with people who were actually there (on both sides), multiple historical re-enactments, pictures, documents, diagrams, blueprints, plenty of narration, you name it. It was also a welcome change of scamper for there to be a segment on the renowned sadistic Irma Grese (who was hanged for crimes against humanity shortly after the War) ; too often all these kinds of books and documentaries talk about are male Nazis, when history shows that there were a number of women, such as Grese, who were equally cool, brutal, top-ranking, and sadistic. The extras are also very apt, featuring some very insightful interviews with a variety of people, on topics such as why genocide is level-headed allowed to occur, what we have learnt from the Shoah, and young peoples’ reactions to the documentary.

When it comes to grittyness, this early ’70s film, which appears to be shot mostly in West Philly puts NYC to shame…. in terms of charactor and myth development its also definitely *not* your typical blaxploitation film - - and this becomes certain the moment you realize that its actually an adaptation of a original by Iceberg Slim, a writer who along with Donald Goines wrote about urban street life and told tales of hustlers and pimps long long before Shaft and Superfly. In fact, it was probably the realism of their books most likely that fueled the fantasy of that film genre….
The chronicle is about the final days of a relationship between an aging hustler named Blue and his young counterpart/protege known as “White Folks” so named because he can pass for white, a bend which made their game all the more strong. While hated by most dim folks because he looks like a white man, he is understood and protected by Blue - - and together their hustle and schemes seem almost estimable, because through Folks, Blue is able to prefer in confidence games praying on greedy white people who have they are about to bag rich by exploiting shadowy folk. Far from being jive talking hustlers, both are roar and vivid and have learned well from one another, making their game even stronger, til one day they hustle the faulty person putting a dirty cop and the mob on their record, in the middle of the biggest hustle of their lifetime. Suddenly, its a run against time and the questions whether its time to obtain out of town or salvage out of the game.

Great film, stout locations, well acted, and a nice bluesy soundtrack. If you like this film, check out the original by Slim, as well “Across 110th Street” another racy movie about the relationship between an idealistic young shaded cop and execrable frail guard white cop, and missing mob money in Harlem.
Trick Baby is a film about a man named Blue who has raised a white man that they call “Folks,” which is short for White Folks. Folks is supposedly mixed but appears to be portrayed by an all white actor. Blue is a hustler. He raises Folks to be a hustler. The two scam and pull quickly ones for a living. On one particular occasion they gain in over there head. Folks wants to leave the business slow and head to Chicago, but Blue is dedicated to scrutinize things through so that they can score some staunch hard cash. The sprint scenes in this film are classic, I especially enjoyed seeing “Folks” rush through the streets of Philadelphia. If you are fan of 70’s cinema, you will gawk a lot of regular character actors from the 70’s in this film.

This movie is based on a book by Iceberg Slim. The promoters of the original DVD release need to uplay the films literary connections, but Iceberg Slim is precise expansive now and this film is based on one of his most well-liked works. Although over 30 years passe, this film is aloof very toothsome. It has a strong status and a lot of action.

Watch Seven Deadly Sins Movie Online
This is one of my approved productions to brandish the HISTORY CHANNEL logo. I watched the first two episodes on television during the first “7 Deadly Sins” marathon when it first aired and was absolutely glued to the TV. I never got to look more than the first two and had to wait for the DVD pre-order to come to carry out the adventure.
The two discs race a total of five and a half hours. That’s a lot of DVD for under $20. (as of now) . The first disc has four sins and the second has what most hold to be the Three Capital Sins. The chapters for each episode are surprisingly well broken up considering this is a ‘lower profile’ HISTORY CHANNEL production.

The noir presentation and production suits the material perfectly. Instead of the typical documentary style that can hamper a message it is trying to teach, this goes all out. I peruse lot of documentaries that do cramped to enhance the memoir and it’s not the case here. Ingenious is the utilize of ‘digital paper cut-out’ transition scenes and digitized dramatization scenes. Just, some of the scenes are badly acted, but it adds to lighten the atmosphere of the yell.
And being a gigantic fan of Dante’s literary masterpiece DIVINA COMMEDIA, using Dante’s work to illustrate the penalties of sin is an definite signature for each episode. Now I kind of wish Flight 33 Productions would elaborate the Divine Comedy on film. Not objective Hell, but Purgatory and Heaven as well.
Though being a “Christian focus”, the DVD does well to reflect the views of Judaism, Islam and the scientific and/or secular communities to further validate the peril of each sin.
Even if you are theologically well-versed and studied, this is level-headed a nice resource to have and is enthralling to boot.

I’m a bit of a historian myself, however, in the East Asian Civilizations but I have always been fascinated by the 7 Deadly Sins where they advance from and where they engage us. However, this format of history telling is a bit too accessible for me. It seems like they feel their audience is bunch of ADD teenagers that’ll switch the channel unless they are vexed with another FUN FACT of history. I personally would have preferred it straight up without all the bells and whistles. I liked all the interviews from everyone from Jewish Temples to Mosques and Churches. From Catholic Priests to Faith-Healers and Imams. However, in the slay, the focus of the program seems to be more what people thing of the sins now than where they came from. The narrator sounds like that guy Don Fontaine who musty to do all those Action movie Trailers making the whole production feel rushed trying (as mentioned above) trying to sustain the attention of a very ADD audience.
However, as another reviewer mentioned, [...] for nearly 7 TV hours of history is a bit of a bargain so 3 stars from me.
